Technology@lemmy.world•Explained: Why you can't move Windows 11 taskbar like Windows 10, according to MicrosoftEnglish
2·4 days agoIt’s not even unreasonable. If this is the kind of incompetence guides something as simple as the task bar, I don’t want to think about how fucked the rest of the code is.
Lmfao, we’re not going to make it another 3 years. This system is designed to implode immediately, and even if it doesn’t, our highschoolers are already functionally illiterate and plagued with learned helplessness.
Agriculture, housing, medical, finance, all guaranteed to collapse shortly. All on top of our already fragile shipping networks, it’s not looking good.

Technology@lemmy.world•This long-term data storage will last 14 billion yearsEnglish
4·9 days agoYou can put it on a spacecraft, and fling it at a bunch of star systems. Also preserving knowledge is still one of our hardest topic to solve. After the resources wars, what will computing even look like? Will we even make it another 3k years? How will we warn the next inhabitants of our pitfalls? Surely anything containing rubber gaskets will be ruined, all capacitors will have leaked. Any iron will have rusted.

1·17 days agoYes, I’ve been experimenting with different Linux distros since 2008 and I was pretty skeptical about “Atomic” distros when they first started buzzing around a few years ago.
However, this past year we’ve had to make the jump to Linux due to windows 11 shenanigans. But let me tell you. She’s got Bazzite and I’ve had to distro hop different arch distros.
But let me tell you, I am incredibly jealous of the amount of things that “just work™️” on her setup. Things that I’ve had to track down on obscure forums. Avoiding footguns and landmines.
I used to recommend Ubuntu, then it was Linux Mint, and now, I recommend any Atomic distro that fits your purpose.

2·18 days agoIf you want honest feedback, I won’t be using it because it isn’t native. File converters are one of those things for me that I really want to compile on my hardware.

Linux@programming.dev•KDE Plasma sets date to dump X11 as Wayland push accelerates
2·23 days agoYep, it is. It’s an idiot-proof gaming distro. It’s preconfigured for gaming and immutable. I believe it’s based on Fadora Atomic.
My daily driver is EndeavourOS and my Girlfriend’s PC is Bazzite, and I’m seriously jealous of how many things “just work” on her PC that I have to scrounge through steam forums and Arch Wiki to get working.

2·24 days agoThere are plenty of movies where the same actor either plays or voices multiple characters. Austin Powers is a good example.
I guess I’m the only one here actively using Boost. I like it. Been using it since long before it was a Lemmy client, haha!

Hey, I’m employed and don’t have the time to dig into the lore. What did Lemminary say? Can you permalink it?
