I occasionally have wet dreams, but I don’t have a penis, so it isn’t a problem. What is a problem is my unconscious mind picking partners for me. Those choises are either highly questionable or absolutely gross.

As a Slav, my first association with the word pie is either fruit or cheese. Now I’m wondering which countries would first think of meat.
Partner and I tried to get through S1 it, but it was uncomfortably cringe and unenjoyable. Never picked it up again.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why are there so many Christmas songs, yet hardly any New Year's ones?English
1·7 days agoAt least according to Wikipedia, the original The One Horse Open Sleigh was possibly intended as a drinking song. That’s also what I heard from someone I know, so that’s what stuck with me.

1·8 days agoJingle Bells was originally drinking song, not related to Christmas at all.
And that’s definitely a big hurdle many people don’t want to get over to join a rather niche platform. Most people just want things to work and not think about it any further. The older I am, the more I understand the sentiment.
We shouldn’t need to spend hours of our free time just to find out where it is “safe” to post memes and share silly stuff. Sure, if we had to do that only for lemmy (or fediverse in general), it wouldn’t be a big deal. But there are so many things in life we use, it’s impossible to devote enough time to research every single one of them. Especially when there are more important things in life to spend time on. It’s exhausting.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but I feel this is one of the reasons lemmy/fediverse will remain niche. Maybe this changes in the future.
We’re supposed to introduce confused normies to the fediverse by telling them to just pick any instance, because it’s all the same. And then shit like this happens, lol.
Something that irked me about college was that professors assumed/expected all of us to know certain things coming into first semester classes. Like writing college level seminars, which were required for most classes. We had no intro whatsoever on the topic. I’d personally never had anything like it in high school (essays yes, seminars no), and my HS was one of the top schools in the city.
Absolutely the same with group work. I think for some it was an easy thing to check off the list, while others assumed students had prior experience/knowledge.

8·14 days agoI wish my employer did that. Instead, people go freely back with their company issued phones and notebooks. 🙄 All the security we have as certification requirements is moot when we bring these devices back into our network like it’s totally fine.

5·20 days agoI wouldn’t go as far as to call him a child, but a very naïve young adult who will have to learn how capitalism works the hard way. As soon as he burns out and is replaced as a consequence, he will hopefully realize there’s no point in “grinding”. But considering he’s a Cybertruck owner… maybe not, lol. Plus, as the article says, working such long hours tanks productivity, anyway, so it’s a waste of both employee’s and employer’s time and money.
When I dream my late dog who passed unexpectedly, it’s often very distressing, because I somehow know she will leave me again and I need to protect her. I usually end up crying in sleep.

9·23 days agoIt’s an extremely dumb mentality. In my country (mostly countryside) people just get rid of the puppies and kittens in awful ways. Put them in a bag and throw them in the river, strangle them, give them to vets to put them down or what my late neighbor did bury them alive right after they’re born. It’s sickening.
