Gaming@lemmy.ml•Do you know any singleplayer games that are infinitely replayable?
4·2 years agoI’m a huge fan of Rimworld! Very excited to hear you’re giving it a try. It really can become whatever you want. There is an abundance of Quality of Life mods too. I definitely have recommendations if you’d like.
Ugh, I try not to :[ honestly such an embarrassment for the whole country that the choices are between a senile old dude and a convicted felon dictator
I’m old enough to remember Trump gutting the EPA, approving oil drilling permits, and reducing national park land and that those are considered all negatives for the environment :/
Oh I’m sure it’d be quite hard. But that’s a future engineer’s problem lol
This is the first step to having magnetic wheels become a thing. We know canonically Jim Kirk’s motorcycle uses these, so it’s definitely mainstream by ~2250.
Honorable mention: the Bell Riots happen September this year, and it seems we’re on track for those too

He did win against her. Until the Superdeligates swung the election in favor of where their money and the DNC wanted. I completely hold the DNC torpedoing themselves as the reason for Trump in '16.

2·2 years agoYou’re totally right. For some reason I (mis)remembered it only being in the EU while the US was excluded. I found the form on Nintendo’s website and will look into that later.

261·2 years agoIt sure would be a shame if you bought new, identical Joy-Con controllers, found they didn’t have drift, and returned the old drifty ones by accident.
5/28 Ninja Edit: today I learned is a form on Nintendo’s website where you can fill out a repair request form. I thought the US had been excluded https://repair.nintendo.com/cc/soConsumer.html?lang=en&sys=SWTCH&type=JOY-CON

guns@lemmy.world•Why are people against gun rights? (besides shootings)
1·2 years agoIt’s a deterrent because it’s an escalation from theft to manslaughter. And people are afraid of it explicitly because it’s only a tool used to kill

guns@lemmy.world•Why are people against gun rights? (besides shootings)
175·2 years agoTo preface, I understand it’s part of the US Constitution so I know it’ll never go away completely.
I’m not a fan of citizens being able to own a tool whose sole purpose is to kill. It’s marketed as defense, but the underlying reason is because a gun is a tool with the power to kill. Guns have become so small and portable that an individual can conceal one and can end people’s lives at will. I’m not comfortable with that power going unchecked.
I also believe 2A’s original intent is not feasible today. A small group of people with muskets cannot overthrow an oppressive state or local government.
I understand the sub this is in, but just wanted to offer my sincere 2¢
This idea is called a “Third Place”. Your first place is home, the second place is work, and the third place is another place that isn’t the first 2. There used to be more of these like malls, plazas, parks, and others. In the last few decades, these places have gone away, had funding cut, or otherwise died. And like OP is saying, there are places that have been created to fill this gap, but they have been monetized :(
I realized that I treated Reddit as a third place. It was somewhere I felt like a community existed that I could talk to people and just hang out. It wouldn’t surprise me if people felt the same about Tik Tok or Facebook. So when one of those places is threatening to leave, it makes sense they feel there will be a void created.
Not sure what a good solution would be as this is a complicated issue.
