PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Bazzite July 2025 Update: Bazaar [new FlatPak store], Z13, Kernel 6.15, Steam Hardware SurveyEnglish
2·6 months agoNot familiar with it but at first I thought of Canonical/Ubuntu’s Bazaar, a VCS similar to Mercurial and Git.
Second Fedora, because it’s just so good. Bazzite is the goal if gaming is your primary concern.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•My mom tells me I should cut dad off for cheating on her, am I a bad person for not wanting to do so?
112·7 months agoHonestly, I’m very happy that your post has the highest score.
All other people are spewing vitriol over either parent and not even trying to be understanding. Life is about making and learning from mistakes, and mistakes can be oh-so-horrible at times. Character value is measured by how well you navigate the stormy waves, and there’s almost never a single correct choice.
Another one is that Moroccanoil, a big sponsor of Eurovision, is an Israeli-owned company.

4·8 months agoNothing against primarily-vegetarian or vegan cuisines. I’m only against saying “this cuisine suck” when you really mean “I don’t like it”.

63·8 months agoCroquettes are not “something veggie”. You can make them as breaded bechamel, but often they’re filled with pork ham or chicken bits. You may find more fancy varieties with seafood or mushrooms, but overall I wouldn’t consider them “something veggie”.
Is Spain primarily meat-eating? Yes. If that’s your concern, be upfront about it but don’t generalise saying that Spain cuisine sucks.
The way to getting through the door is by employing soft skills, ie having someone forward your CV, be it someone you knew or some recruiter you just added to LinkedIn.
There are other ways, but involve more gating like CV scrappers.

12·9 months agoI always say it’s pretty simple: scrap DST and shift timezone by 30 minutes. It may not be pretty if every observing country did not the same, but there are already countries using this system, like India.

7·9 months agoI meant, being devil’s advocate, you’re paying for a CPU, GPU and RAM in a single purchase. These things would be a MiniPC without the motherboard and connectors.
American or otherwise? My late friend was 23 when he passed away, but I’m happy I got to share so many years with him. Hope the same for you and your baby!

Europe@feddit.org•EU offers its own ‘win-win’ minerals deal to Ukraine – POLITICOEnglish
4·10 months agoUnless there’s a insurrection in Russia and troups need to be redeployed, I’m skeptical of Ukraine regaining their lost territory.
The negotiations could be related into an investment package vis a vis we process minerals to develop our military industrial complex and you get weapons and money.
The crucial thing here, and why I think this kind of negotiation would be lacking, is time. These things need time and that’s something Ukraine has little of.

10·10 months agoErdogan is seemingly positioning themselves more closely to Ukraine, not necessarily because of being pro Ukraine but for being anti Russian. Effectively ceding control of the Black Sea coast to Russia is a big no-no.
Adding some context: it’s because there are 18 abbreviated letters, hence i18n.

Games@lemmy.world•Paradox Interactive has completely cancelled "Life By You"English
5·2 years agoWhile PDX-published games may suffer from the decouplement of features between DLCs, at the very least PDS-developed games have a built-up expertise when it comes to managing this.
As for MMO model, it’s a hard sell because purchased things get made “free” for new comers. It’s one of the crux that EU4 faced when they rolled many DLC features into the base game.

Games@sh.itjust.works•On the wings of the Crownfall update, DOTA2 has hit its highest concurrent player peak since 2022: over 900K.English
5·2 years agoI played Dota games circa 2010, and I was decent. My most preferred game was Heroes of the Storm because it felt more streamlined and team based than Dota, and this has caused me to lose so many skills like lane control (kills/denials) and item management.
Is there any way of getting those skills back? Any resources where it may explain each role (carry, ganker, etc) with a few characters in detail? Any game I’ve played in turbo or otherwise has resulted in showing my incompetence 😂
At some point you learn to cope. “esta mañana”, “el día de mañana”, “mañana por la mañana”…
Spanish has two: de día roughly “by daytime” and un dia exactly “a day”.

The runtime is for launching games, not Steam itself. You can check the runtime selection in Compatibility tab of Steam and of each game. If your Steam Flatpak install doesn’t work, the issue is likely somewhere else.
I’d suggest trying to launch the flatpak from the terminal and seeing if there’s any strange logging.
