I don’t see any setting that would affect it. Is it possible I have to enable some setting? No matter how I configure it, it’s displaying images within folders that have a .nomedia file.
I’d like also to ask is there any difference between Aves Libre and the Aves Gallery app in the Play store & Aurora store?
Well I don’t mean aesthetics, its just buttons and layout are a bit awkward. And other aspects. I can check and see what exactly bothers me so I can follow up with specifics.
I was pleasantly surprised they finally did some updating because damn, that app had been stagnant for years.
It’s an interesting app. I kinda like it a don’t at the same time. It has a lot to offer, but needs some polishing.
I’ve tried all the galleries and Aves Libre is the one I have consistently found superior to all others.
It is a little better, I’ll agree with this. I usually end up just using Droidify. I’ve tried pretty much all the variations eg: Foxy, Neo, Izzy (good repo, bad app; can’t shut off checking for updates), etc.
Material files is alright, but if you’re going to accept some serious limitations of under-developed features, I’d stick with Total Commander.

I’ve tried soooo many launchers. Absolutely nothing has equaled the total features and polish of Nova. Thus far the one I’m able to most tolerate is Poco, and on some devices I actually like Launch Time, which is a lot more visible a presence since it has a menu bar and background everything. It’s more like the old Program Manager in Windows 3.1. Poco is fairly simple but doesn’t support adaptive so when you apply an icon pack it won’t generate an approximation for ones that aren’t in the pack. On Nova most packs will at least encapsulate icons in their pack’s design shell. If Poco got a little more sophisticated I would like it.
And I also quite like the total simplicity of Neat Launcher, which is nice because it’s also open source.
I used to love making text adventure with AGT the Adventure Game Toolkit. I’ve wanted for some time already to learn to make stuff with still images and click zones which is essentially the evolution of the text adventure. The audience for this stuff is tiny, but I’d still love to get back into making text adventure. If there’s an easy to learn equivalent of AGT that can be made either web-hosted or somehow platform-independent I’d love to do that. AGT was a real breeze to learn and it’s a terrific creative outlet.
Anything more sophisticated is out of my league as I’m not a pro coder; my development experience is limited to an array of projects in VB6, the biggest of which was a companion software for Team Fortress Classic to customize scripts and per-class macros. It was called TFCompanion. Got 1,000 downloads roughly. But I digress.
Also, Windows doesn’t “just work.” I’ve yet to encounter anyone who gets a Windows machine and has no problems at all.
My mother-in-law got a new laptop (didn’t consult me first) and it refused to even acknowledge her printer when plugged in. I plugged in my little transformer pad running an old Ubuntu and it printed in literally one second flat. She ended up having to get a new printer. Why? Because the existing one she had, the manufacturer didn’t pay their protectsia to have it in the included drivers base. And no, even a downloaded driver didn’t help.
So Windows has its own shit aplenty. That’s just one example of many. I think the idea that Windows is easier is a myth. Linux just happens to have a lot more to offer that requires a little learning, and most people are just too lazy or scared.
Anyone who takes the plunge and is willing to learn seems to be happy for having done it so… that should be enough testimonial.
So… After that had fixed it, I’m using device for a few more days and now suddenly there’s a different omen So, share sheet now has an email recipient up there on top of all other items. There doesn’t seem to be anywhere that I can prohibit Outlook items from being shoved onto that position.
What the actual F? Any idea?
Actually someone got it solved for me. Cleared Outlook cache and data. Had to setup over again but it is gone from the share sheet.
Yeah I wasn’t thinking about these things, you’re right. I mean, even with “Smart” TV (don’t get me started) I have a media dedicated computer with a small footprint attached and I do everything via that.
I don’t use any tech that I’m not fully in control of, unless I have no other choice. The tv thing I completely realize is the minority case. I know only tech geeks who have the knowhow are doing anything like that.
The whole smart tv thing is irrelevant to me because it’s such a scam. They stop updating apps after a certain amount of time, forcing the users to just chuck a perfectly good tv and buy something new because apps are no longer being maintained on that one. Such a fucking scam. But P. T. Barnum called it long ago, “There’s a sucker born every minute.”
I think the Xperia seems always to have been a line for a little extra glamour. I’ve seen a few different models from over the years and they’re all a bit indulgent in their own ways.
Just curious why is this entire thing even in the Android community? This is a privacy topic or a YouTube topic etc. There’s nothing about it that ties it to Android. Can we keep stuff like this out? It’s just one more topic that devolves into politics, scare speculation etc. Just read the comment threads if you need to see.
I don’t know how or why you see ads on YouTube. I have been using firefox and before that whatever else, for a very long time. I have not seen an ad of any kind on YouTube in many MANY years. And since sponsor block came out I’ve only seen a few that managed to slip through. I just fast forward. But why would anyone suffer YouTube with ads? You’re volunteering for it at this point because it’s insanely easy to block them.
I don’t know what your financial status is, but a nice Synology NAS unit is a terrific investment. I’m really happy with the one I got a while back.

Yes, I’m aware of the ability to manually hide a directory. Thank you anyway for making the suggestion. I do wish the app properly respected the .nomedia file. Ah well.
Meanwhile I have another crash Android dilemma going on as well. Most of the time Android is freaking amazing to me, and then there are times I wonder how something fundamental and basic has been overlooked.
