I appreciate that. And our “not allowing our kids to run wild” thing never involved being authoritarian, either. We just tried to raise them to be respectful of others and, whaddya know? It worked! We have some very respectful and wonderful grown adult kids!

Our 5 kids are grown, but there’s no way in hell I’d have let them run wild. When parents do that, it is one of the most annoying things about going places in public. It seems every time we go to eat someplace, a family with a gaggle of rowdy kids gets seated immediately near us.

Retired firefighter/paramedic here. It’s simple: Fire departments don’t normally generate revenue. It’s a money-sink and local governments don’t like that. The first things financially cut when I worked for a city of 170,000 were always services that didn’t make money. That’s just how it works.

Why police departments need heavy armor and assault accoutrements is beyond me, though. I mean, all that shit didn’t help whatsoever in most mass-shootings.

I had cosmic running recently on one ssd and it was pretty solid for that short period of time. I’ll keep checking in!

Currently, Plasma. But I have ADHD a bit, so I’ve gone back and forth between that and Gnome mostly. I do like Cinnamon and I really want to spend time with Xfce and maybe others just to see what feels most comfortable right now. I’m trying to go for keyboard comfort these days, so we’ll see where I land at some point!

After this one? We don’t. We went back more than half-a-century this time around. Gonna take a bit, if at all.

Aspen. Having lived and vacationed in Colorado in the past made my wife and I fall in love with them for their color in the fall. We’ve traveled back just to see them.

It feels like a fresh start. Gotta be excited about that, right?
