There’s a guy on YouTube doing videos about his haunted apartment “but the rent is really, really really cheap!” Part of the gag is that there’s a doppelganger that keeps trying to talk him into going into the basement, and will try to trick you too. The bit is all kinds of craziness, it’s pretty fun.

I radially dice my onion. To me it seems like the horizontal and vertical cuts leave more uneven bits considering the layers already present. I angle my “vertical” cuts towards the center, then start chopping.
That’s ok. They prefer it that way because it gives them cover to go unwitnessed.
The outside of the kernel is very fibrous, so when chewing it’s less about breaking down the outside and more like popping the insides out of its skin. We need all kinds of fiber in our diets, so the outside of the corn kernels passing through is just fine.
This is how I water them at home.
Put plant in sink. Soak with water. Allow to drain. Use draining as an excuse not to do dishes. Get irritated with myself for not putting the plant back as I catch myself needing to drain the pasta I’m cooking for dinner so I shuffle shit around while almost burning myself. Put plant back.
I’ve had bad experiences with melatonin, but now I find it can be helpful in smaller doses. I cycle through a bedtime thc/CBD/melatonin sleep aid (Wonder Wellness Sleep), L-theanine, and melatonin, only taking one for tops a week at a time. That rotation seems to help.
I remember some years back on Reddit, a med student was kicking himself because he noticed how sweet his gf was when he went down on her, but didn’t make the association until after her symptoms/diagnosis.
I appreciate that description. This is the kind of shit that comes to mind every time I hear someone claim “you should consume ________ to boost your immune system!” Like, if we could so easily increase it’s activity, this is the shit we’d be setting ourselves up for.
A lot of restaurants add a dab of pancake batter to scrambled eggs to help make them fluffy. In that case there’s some leavening in the batter. I guess a touch of plain flour would add a little body to it? I wonder if self rising flour would be a better choice for fluff?

2·1 year agoYears ago I printed out a copy of a weights and measures chart with common ingredient substitutions and taped it inside a kitchen cabinet. I’ve found it incredibly convenient.
And this is how we become our grandparents. 🥴

Memes@sopuli.xyz•What your coffee preparation method says about you
2·1 year agoI haven’t experienced this, but from what I hear if you start with cooler water in the bottom and have the heat set too high, you can overheat the pot and the grounds before the water comes to temp to actually brew.
The few times I’ve used my moka pot I’ve preheated the water in a kettle so it gets to brewing faster (based on coffee people recommendations online.)
My understanding is that if the food is easily swallow sized, they may unintentionally crunch as they maneuver the food around their mouths to position it to be swallowed, but not out of necessity. If the food is larger, sure they’ll break it up so they can swallow it easier. But by nature, cats aren’t animals that need to chew food for grinding and digestive purposes (like animals that have flat/grinding molars.) As long as they can swallow it, they don’t need to chew.
Perfectly fine.
My cat had the same tooth removal surgery a couple years ago (he was adopted with a mouth full of teeth where most were about to fall out). He was on soft food for about 2-3 weeks before he started picking at his dry food again. Now he gets a portion of wet food every morning, and free feeds dry all day.
What I learned from the vet is that cats use their teeth mainly to rip meat off their prey so they can swallow it, and not really to chew. So if they’re presented with food that’s an appropriate size to swallow, they just swallow it.
This was the first thing I thought of, but couldn’t remember the artists name - thank you!

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What metrics are deoderant companies using to calculate their "72hr protection" numbers?

I’m bad about remembering.
Then again, I suspect I somehow may have ended up with the good gene as I have incredibly dry ear wax. On top of that I typically use antiperspirant instead of deodorant anyway, because I dislike feeling wet.

I was thinking that someone who went through the trouble of making such authentic costumes is probably known to the neighbors for them anyway.

YES!!! I appreciate you finding that. I’m between patients on sketchy mobile so it’s hard to find things sometimes.
