It is not transactional. Trying to weigh something good against the realities of everyday life is not helpful for enjoying the good thing. You have to go through all those everyday things anyway. Best enjoy the things that are simply ejoyable.
I stream on https://twitch.tv/imperorthefirst and run https://www.youtube.com/@Imperor dedicated to longform gameplay of grand strategy, 4X and TTRPG games. My main goal is helping people get into more complex games!

Love for me. Nothing better in life than having mutual love be it romantic or friendship.
Also stories of all kinds are pretty great.

Europa / Europe and the EU + EEA@lemmy.world•Denmark alerts NATO and EU after coordinated drone attacks at its airports
10·4 months agoSomeone I know who really drank the Russian propaganda kool aid keeps insisting that NATO in fact keeps provoking Russia into a war.
No matter how badly they might be doing with boots on the ground, they are readily winning the propaganda war. It is disheartening to see.

2·4 months agoWas it really just reddit? I seem to remeber that other sanctuaries bad mouthed them viciously as well because it is such a war for donations to keep their operations going, so they fight each other? Maybe that was also part of it. Either way, atrocious and a great loss.

Television@piefed.social•'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Producers Promise Season 4 Will Be Better
91·4 months agoHonestly, it can hardly be worse than any season of Discovery or Picard. I quite liked a good chunk of Strange New Worlds.

13·4 months agoI think that’d be a pretty dangerous proposition by now. Maybe someone is doing it but is now too afraid to do the switcheroo.

11·4 months agoI know a few people who drink the right wing coolaid and hate renewables, but they also think China is a great place and outsmarting western democracies at every turn. Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug.
Good thing solar and other renewables are still going strong some placed at least.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•I wish there was a "Right to have your account deleted"
85·6 months agoEU already has this with the GDPR. Only limitation are retention periods required by law, like employee data needs to be kept for ten years in Germany for example, but for the duration whoever has the data must block it from being processed for anything but the legal requirment, as that becomes the legal basis for processing (storing in this case) and no other uses are allowed until deletion.
Only applies to EU citizens though plenty companies have implemented straightforward ways to delete an account for everyone.

Technology@lemmy.world•Report: Apple CEO “cares about nothing else” Than Building Breakout AR Glasses Before MetaEnglish
9314·9 months agoThis AR obsession is utterly baffling to me. There are so few real applications and the hardware requirements are insane so it’s not something that will get widely adapted anyway. Sure in a decade or so it might have matured enough to have shed all these issues, but AR/VR feels like a really out of touch thing to prusue, especially if you look at the garbage ideas they have on how to use it - virtual meetings??
I get movies and games on these, possibly even some recording and porn, but these are not their B2B wet dreams anyway.
“Dopamine Nation” is a good book on this whole issue. I really wonder how much the dead internet theory might play a role in eventually breaking this cycle, or just younger generations being contrarian to older generations.

21·9 months agoHey, I don’t quite understand your point. It’s entirely about the process and thoughts around migrating to Linux from the point of view of someone who has never attempted it. It’s about adaptation. If it does not fit the sub, I do apologize for crossposting here and will not do so in the future.

3·9 months agoI posted the link in the original post, seems to have gotten lost, sorry. As others have said, it’s a video essay where I talk about the experience of it.
I do apologise if that doesn’t fit this sub. I had to fight a bit through stuff because I game and stream and that was what held me back from attempting it in the first place. Here’s the link :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoYW6HEVBCI

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Am i the only one who feels like it's the same handful of users posting and commenting on lemmy?English
2·1 year agoI don’t post nearly as much as I would like, because I post some stream related stuff in my own community on lemmy and don’t know want to come off as someone who is trying to advertise all the time. I have been reported for that posting to my own community, which… ya know. I get it, nobody cares about yet another streamer dude, but it is a bit intimidating almost.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Spectre Divide lowers skin prices just hours after launch: 'We took a swing that we thought would best set us up to support the game. Turns out we swung a bit high'English
25·1 year ago“We thought the unwashed masses would kill each other for the chance to give us all their money for something intangible and entirely devoid of value, but it appears they are even poorer than we thought they were.”

Something I keep bringing up but never see in these open letters is: why are politicians exempt? Are there no child predators in the ruling class? I think the Epstein files have shown that these people need to be under surveillance just as much if not more as the people. Otherwise this just means: become a politician and you get immunity to having auch material.
Of course the argument is national security, blah. But somehow that trumps protecting children. If there are exemptions, it is not about the children.
