Say fix it in post 3 times. Then shoot clean plates and hope the studio has a vfx budget.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the oldest video game you still find yourself playing?English
6·10 days agoThe barcade near me has a Sinistar (1982) cabinet and I play it every time I go. I’m not even that good at it, but I love it so much.
Also I love those Lucasarts point and click adventure games. Grew up playing Monkey Island and play it again every once in a while.
What show is this?
[edit: it looks like Summer Camp Island? I don’t remember it that well if that’s the case]
[edit edit: after a bit of hunting, I think it’s from the final episode of season 1 of Summer camp island; The Library]

Memes@lemmy.ml•Liberals: *proceeds to lap up empire propaganda instead*English
12·11 days agoThe thing on the scroll is usually what the meme poster supports and the 4th panel person’s reaction is who they’re making fun of.
I don’t think it’s implying the boundaries are singular climates. I think it’s more like “the variance of climates in this area are similar to the variance of climates in this other country”. It’s a bit hard to see, but there are names of cities labeled on the map as well. I’m not sure how accurate it is, but I’m inferring that Shanghai and Tokyo have similar climates to each other because they’re very close on the map in NC.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are your opinions on name changes in general?English
25·12 days agoHall of Fame: HBO -> HBO Go -> HBO Now -> HBO Max -> MAX -> HBO Max
I love how you unquoted “evidence” in the original meme. I just wanted to know how the people you know were affected, and every message you send that avoids that screams “I totally have a girlfriend but she lives in another country and she doesn’t like her picture taken, but trust me, she definitely exists”
I mean, it’s just the entire crux of your argument. I’m also not the same person you’ve been talking to. All I did was ask you to make a claim instead of vagueposting about the definition of genocides being pretty wide and getting on a soapbox. It’s hard to have discussions when you refuse to communicate about the topic, but rather delve into meta-commentary as soon as you’re asked for any details that have brought you to your conclusion.
That’s a lot of words to avoid saying “I believe China is committing genocide because they are doing ____”.
You have a friend over there but haven’t said what their experience is. You have said genocide doesn’t have to look like Israel but haven’t specified how it applies to China from your perspective. Make a claim.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People who pay for food but don't collect it: Why?English
21·13 days agoI ordered online Jersey Mike’s (sandwich chain restaurant) on my lunch break at a new job, then walked a mile in the opposite direction towards a Jimmy Johns (another sandwich chain restaurant) and wasted my entire lunch break waiting on my food that was never going to be at the wrong restaurant.
Make a claim

I was just thinking about this regarding climate the other day and found this interesting graphic on climate similarities in North America.
Not really all that recent (mid to late 00s). Unfortunately I don’t really know anyone in the area anymore to ask if they still teach or require it.
My high school required a firearms safety class to graduate. Not sure if that had changed since it’s in an area where everyone hunts.

Memes@lemmy.ml•Always remember that the democrats are right wingEnglish
1·17 days agoThe Whig party died because it failed to address the whig voters’ concerns over slave states. The Whigs in charge were too busy trying to find a moderate choice between traditional whig and democratic policies since the Whigs consisted of both northern and southern slave states and were too spineless to pick a side. Zachary Taylor (W), who had never voted or voiced his political opinion prior to running, won the nomination because whig voters in the convention thought being a middle ground candidate was enough to win. And he did win, but…
After Zachary Taylor was president, Winfield Scott (W), who was running a diet-democratic campaign seeing how it worked with Taylor, was running against Franklin Pierce (D), a dark horse candidate who wasn’t even in the running until the 35th ballot at a stalled democratic convention. Scott, having lost the anti-slavery voters of the northern states, had an enthusiasm issue so big that people of the time regard this is one of the least exciting campaigns in presidential history. After Pierce won the election 254 electoral votes to 42, Free Soil and ex-Whig voters coalesced into the republican party. The whig party had been killed.
If your party isn’t giving what people are pleading for or isn’t a real opposition party, it’s easier killing the party and starting fresh with something better than trying to lure the lost party back to your own values. And if we’re already putting forth all that effort to build up a new party when one dies, why not be cool and make a revolutionary vanguard party instead of filling the vacuum in bourgeois elections?
Gotta use a brick because Mr Evrart is helping me find my gun.

Some say that vfx editors and post houses within a 5 mile radius have a fire-department-esque alarm whenever it is muttered 3 times. They’ll show up to grab dailies, curse you for not figuring out a solution in pre-production, then begrudgingly fix the issues.
