Television@piefed.social•Dropout CEO on Launching Higher-Priced ‘Superfan’ Tier as Streamer Crosses 1 Million Subscribers
4·8 days agoI’m pretty sure the higher paid tier is identical to the regular paid tier. They wanted to make sure nobody felt like they had to pay more to get the full experience. Their higher tier is strictly for those who want to give drop out more money.
I think 840 is a better base number. It has 32 factors which is itself a power of 2. That is a highly versatile counting system if you ask me. But you didn’t so I apologize for asserting so.

3·25 days agoOnce again, you are painting with broad strokes. If a bad apple spoils the bunch then all of humanity is bad apples. A Christian following the teachings of Jesus in Scripture over the cultural American WASP perception of what those teachings are, does not necessarily enable those WASPs to do harm.

136·26 days agoBroad strokes… I know plenty of people who are Christians who attend church and hold very progressive views. I’m sorry that your experience with believers has been so poor. Please do try to remember that nobody talks about the person who isn’t bothering anyone with their beliefs.

5·27 days agoI feel this may be an American thing. Many millennials have a shared experience of being told by our parents that we can’t have the dome light on in the car at night because it is illegal. In reality, it reduces visibility on a dark road for the driver so it is a little dangerous to do but certainly not illegal.
I just wanted to play my Gameboy Advance on the drive home!

13·27 days agoYour face will not get stuck like that.
It is not illegal to turn on the light in the car while driving.
Bears do not sleep all winter long.
Bats are not blind.
Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day.
Searing a steak does not seal in moisture.
Waking a sleepwalker is not dangerous to their health.

I’m not disagreeing with you. Just adding on that many of America’s unions are no longer for the members of said unions. They just collect dues and stay out of the way of the corporations they are meant to protect the workers from. It’s immensely frustrating to see such lack of action from them.

People Twitter@sh.itjust.works•A cut, sure, but the whole fuckin thing?
81·1 month agoToo bad a car is required for the vast majority of working folks just to get to their job that would pay for said insurance along with everything else they need in life. Guess they can’t afford to live either. Seems like a great system.
Many unions have become their own for-profit businesses that work with companies to keep their workers aligned with profit motivations of said business. But yes, I agree, we do need MORE unions who work for the workers.
40 hours is the normal expected work week in the US. But most states don’t have overtime pay requirements until after 48 hours of labor in a single week. Some states require an unbroken 8 hour rest period inside each 24 hours but not much more than that.

I know this is a joke but if you ask for black coffee or unsweet tea, you will get what you are expecting in most cases. They may ask as a courtesy if you want sweeteners or creamers with that because many people wish to sweeten their drinks themselves as they may prefer artificial sweeteners or wish to control their dairy or sugar intake for dietary reasons.
