In the United States what is pictured are not called pancakes. Those are Crêpes / crepes. Add a levening agent (baking soda) and flour and ya got American pancakes.
Want to make them better and more uniquely American and not so Fastfood American?
Use sourdough starter Or
Carefully stir in (to not make it flat) 7up or a not too bitter beer replacing some or all of the water Or
Replace some of the flour with fine corn meal, add rosemary and a pork product (eg sausage, cooked bacon cubes)
In high-school some people froze their paintballs and it made dents. I would never suggest it.
I read a great comment on here from someone that destruction of Teslas on a lot is not the right tactic or is not as effective because of they simply get replaced (and more get made) and paid for with insurance money.
I read that spray painting personal Teslas is great for spreading the fear in media so that people don’t buy one in the first place and they sit unsold on lots.
The orgional person that said it was much better with the points than me. Did anyone else see it / can link it it?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How would you deal with right wing parents?
5·10 months agoBooks or audio books on the subject of cults and conspiracy theories help to both understand this and eventually know what to do about it.
Unfortunately, you arguing with them about it most likely did only damage and no good. Stop. It will only make your parents more right wing (and you left) then drive you both crazy.
Here is a good place to start if you like: Hivemind by A.Montell Cultish BA S.cavanagh
Hit me up if you want more. But it’s a complicated subject that can’t be explained in a short lemmy post. If you want any other advice, OP, eatsomeveggies.

World News@lemmy.world•Nearly half of Danes see US as threat and 78% oppose Greenland sale, poll showsEnglish
14·11 months agoTrump does not want Greenland, never did. He also doesn’t care about the gulf of Mexico or Panama cannel.
It’s just a distraction and negative media overload method that he uses. And you know what, it works. Here we are talking about this and not the serious things.

163·1 year agoAn educated public is great. A highly educated public, all the better. In my eyes there is no over educated, but rather jobs should not be below certain people to do. One on the best bakers / pastry chef’s I worked with got his first degree in chemistry (which he still loves chemistry and does projects as side hobbies).

42·1 year agoI’m sorry, what? Are there pro Chinese EV people? Like, they seems like fine cars and are cheap… But everyone knows what they are getting with them. It like buying a 10€ hand knitted fast fashion sweater; you got to know some poor slave kid made that shit and simply not care.

263·1 year agoIs this not standard Chinese building practices? I saw a docu on this when building infrastructure for the silk road projects. It is not OK in any way, and should be stopped, but should also be expected.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is lead toxicity from shooting guns a primary reason many Americans seem cognitively impaired ?
391·1 year agoI see where you are going, but you probably should focus less on the guns. Most Americans don’t regularly shoot guns, even those that have them. A whole lot also don’t own any. But lead is all over in shit like water pipes. Other heavy metals and chemicals are present in higher levels than allowed elsewhere. Also full metal jacket is much more common than it used to be which reduces the lead particles when shooting.

aww@lemmy.world•A cute little honey bee on my car this morning before workEnglish
10·1 year agoNot to presume someone’s gender, but that’s a she. She’s a hard worker. So you know, boy honey bees don’t even collect pollen or nectar. They also don’t protect the bee hive or care for the young. Boy bees are the meaning of lazy. Most hives will only have a few percent of boys in summer, but when it gets cold they get booted from the hive and die and they don’t make any more boys until next spring.
No. Clearly no.
The specs required for these games is low, fortunately. Cheaper gaming laptops typically go for twice your max budget. Looking for a used laptop is the way I would go with the budget. I have the specs for fortnite below, but keep in mind, these are the minimum expectations not what you should get. I would search for something with 1.5-2x these specs if you expect your kid to have the laptop for more the 3-4 years and the demands of future games.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•To Americans: How far apart is everything in the US?
1·1 year agoFor me things were not in meters or feet but hours driven. From my home town the nearest stoplight was 1.5 hours away by car. This is also the closest chain restaurant (like McDonald’s or simular). We had a school bus, but other than that no public transit. The next town over (15 minutes) has a supermarket.

*sous chef. Sous is French for under. So the person directly under the chef is the sous chef.
