I don’t really know of anyone that uses it… Even when I was working in an endpoint team, I don’t remember anyone ever asking for it. Hmm.

1·9 days agoMaybe it’s a translation issue, we have
- rivers
- streams
- creeks
- Brooks and
- runs
…
Maybe they just have the 2 words so there’s information lost in translation?

Each of them are Crimean and therefore qualify for use in the mockery of any tech giant of my choosing via extremely bad puns.
However…

Technology@beehaw.org•Age Verification Is Coming For the Internet. We Built You a Resource Hub to Fight Back.English
4·12 days agoYou are exactly correct and you’re definitely justified in your frustration. It’s laws like this that caused me to stop using Blue sky because Blue sky decided that they would go ahead and ask for age verification in advance of their actual legal obligation to do so.
On principle I felt required to stop using the service but in addition to that it’s a clear violation and really Blue sky just isn’t worth it.
So instead of doing the age verification I just froze my account and haven’t looked back. I deleted all of my posts and all of my likes and the account is sitting there idle in case they decide to change their mind. I don’t think it’s going to happen, I think they’re too afraid of litigation.

Are HikVision cameras being used to surveil people on a level never before seen in this country? Serious question, I truly don’t know…
It’s all well and good to prove someone wrong, and it seems you’ve done this with only one of his arguments but only partially. It seems a safe argument that security ought to be default for something that gets placed anywhere and everywhere. He should never have been able to make that video due to the high quality of the security of the devices.
