I my infinite wisdom I have allowed my phone that it may give me, his one and only master, his single purpose of existence, suggestions what I could have ment, when I type arrohamce. It may not change my superior writing by itself, but only show me his inferior opinion on what an alternative form of the word could be, because it definitely isn’t one thing: wromg.

Europe@feddit.de•Get drunk, not high at Oktoberfest, Bavaria saysEnglish
8·2 years agoYou underestimate the Bavarian politicians. It’s not about the money (or reason), it’s all about sending a message.
I really enjoyed it and just reaatched it a year ago. Great show with a unique approach. Sad that there aren’t any current shows that are similar indeed.
That’s basically the tv series Eureka
Totally inaccurate, earth is not in the center.
I mean invented is a strong word. A gaming chair is usually an cheap office chair in the cool gaming style with a hefty price increase. Nothing special about it.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Self-Checkout Nightmare May Finally Be EndingEnglish
2·2 years agoFrom your comment I assume you are American, since I heard that people pack your bags at your stores. In Germany and probably most of Europe a typical checkout process works differently and probably solves the problem.
- You put your stuff on a large transport band, emptying your cart (probably have those as well)
- When you’re up you move your cart at the large area after the cashier
- The cashier registers everything and pushes it to you into that big area
- You put everything in your bags while they are working
- Cashier finishes, you make your payment
- You pack the last 3 items that are remaining
Some stores also introduced a simple “switch” that makes the products of the person after you slide into a seperate area, to save time .

30·2 years agoOne could say your reaction is strongly dependent on your relation to the one shooting rockets.
There are always people getting annoyed by changes, doesn’t matter what the changes are. Sometimes I get the impression that humans just need something to be annoyed about.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•can any American explain the deal with funds giving grants to universities?
7·2 years agoNot from the us but scientific research is usually very costly . They need funding to stay at the technological edge and therefore accept funding and therefore do some “shady” studies or whatever strings you might imagine.
There were also talks about calling them frake, but it has been decided to use snog, that it can also be used as a frog hybrid with snails.
That’s actually a hybrid of both animals called snog.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do people hate on mobile games, call them "not real games" and mock them, when some mobile-exclusive games are the best games I've played?
21·2 years agoMultiple things:
- A lot of mobile games include ridiculous micro transactions
- a lot are copy paste concepts or are missing game depth and complexity (comparable with Minesweeper or Solitaire)
- the standard input device (touch) is not great for traditional games developed for physical button games
There are definitely exceptions to the problems, but I haven’t found a mobile game yet that catches me for 100h.

Technology@lemmy.world•Gamers enraged at Ubisoft for injecting ads into the middle of video gamesEnglish
531·2 years agoI don’t mind a little ad in the menu, about stuff directly related to game I’m playing. Those little “Hey we released a new content dlc to this exact game” infos can actually be informative. What I really can’t stand is stuff breaking the immersion of the game. I’m not even mad about product placements, when they fit the theme and are sparsely used.
Your focusshould be on something that catches his interest. Depending on the child I’d say choose stuff that is easily to learn but has some depth too it. If you want to invest some time do some projects with him, to give easy goals to achieve and continue. Be the rabbit hole.

You never stop learning something about yourself and why others couldn’t comprehend what I tasted there.
