I liken it to listening to your favorite band on headphones vs seeing them in concert. One experience is just hearing the song, the other you feel with your whole body.

Hard disagree. As a car person, it’s about the mechanical simplicity and feedback you get from the car.

Electronic steering and throttles already took a lot of the “road feel” from most modern cars. Fully electric cars compound the issue with awkward “engine noises” and fake gear shifts… none of that really translates how the car is actually performing on the road. Think of it like listening to music on headphones vs being there in concert, it’s about the feel of the experience. Every single electric car I’ve driven had had no soul, no feel. You’re so disconnected from the road grip feels like a total guess when you’re moving quickly. Paired with distracting “saftey features” that can’t properly read the road and screens galore most electric vehicles are obnoxious, distracting, and dull to drive.

Not to mention, If my car breaks down I can usually pull out some basic tools and spend a couple hours fixing it, because it’s mostly mechanical features. The majority of electric vehicles require proprietary software and tools to do very basic maintenance. Plus, any sort of aftermarket changes requires an incredible amount of electrical engineering practice to not totally brick the car.

TLDR: electric cars are dull and exceedingly difficult for average folks to repair easily. Mechanically minded folk want to feel connected to their car and electronic cars don’t give you that.

South Australian tv show that is a “what if Charlie’s angels tried to kill hitler” presented as a bad Spanish soap opera from the 70’s in the first season and a shitty action drama from the 80’s in the second.

Deliciously bizarre, infinitely quotable, phenomenal soundtrack, very hard to explain. Think power rangers levels of drama with tastefully absurd offensive elements (blackface, misogyny, nazis) played for perfect comedic effect. Seriously one of a kind show.

I have so many stark lasting memories of my dad, good and bad it’s hard to pick the one with the greatest impact.

Maybe the time I watched him have an allergic reaction to an ssri that ended in 6 cops beating him unconscious and dragging him to jail.

Maybe the time he unprompted pulled $800 out of his wallet and handed it to the lady at the laundry mat who was stressed about paying her rent that month.

Maybe the time my friends and I showed up at 2am with bath salts and he did a little toot with us.

Maybe the time he sat with me in the kitchen until the wee hours of the night playing chess while I cried about being broken up with for the first time.

Problem is they will disappear, jail, or kill any genuine organizers and infiltrate / sabotage any organization that actually gets to a place of effectively mobilizing a strategy like this.

Don’t get me wrong, I think something like this would help level the playing field and benefit the protesters tremendously but the FBI and DOJ won’t let it happen. Look at the people that tried organizing the Ferguson protests after the death of Eric garner, Freddy grey, Tamir rice, back in 2012-2015 they’re all dead or in jail.

People need to protect and organize themselves. Thats what the black panthers did and that’s precisely why they were so effective. They built up from their preexisting communities.
