They already have four. What they need is one which supports 100% of the features, is easy to use and selected by default. They might keep other more advanced UIs but forcing new users to select UI as a first step, before they can do anything in the software is just plain stupid.

I understand that real men like you want their software to hit them in the face on start-up, and then refuse to do anything until you type SUDO, but LibreOffice UI isn’t even “good” kind of difficult. It’s not like Vim, where once you learn how to use it you become much more productive. LibreOffice is just a plain old mess. You start by selecting one of four UIs, where you need to guess which one actually works (I remember that a basic feature that I needed, after the extensive search, turned out to be unavailable in the UI that I selected at the start).

I think it might be similar to CGI in movies: you do not notice those good ones, they blend in and look natural. But you DO notice those that went wrong or way too far.

Question to people downvoting this. I thought the community is called “no stupid question” to encourage questions that people would otherwise hesitate to ask. Downvoting them sends mixed signals, doesn’t it?
That’s the coolest setup I have seen in a while.

Great idea, “let’s make cars exactly like our cheaper competitors, but charge more! I bet everyone will be happy to buy them”

I downloaded Mint last week and started the installation but got cold feet when it came to drive formatting. I still want to keep my win10 operational in case I won’t be able to run something on Linux.
I never actually used Linux before… I installed it 3 times before and always quickly went back to windows due to some compatibility or driver issues, but…
<Rant mode=“venting”> I am NOT switching to win11… It’s enough that I am forced to use it at work. That system is so fuckin stupid… They took a lot of minor elements and just made each of them worse… I get that the sales department told you to shove OneDrive and Copilot everywhere, it’s stupid and annoying but I get it, it’s just plain old greed, but why can’t the Calendar show the whole month and don’t work on the second monitor?!? (Are you planning to add it as a paid subscription later?!?) </Rant>
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

It is said, that once you install windows on them, you would finally be able to use Internet Explorer!

If having kids is considered a consumption causing carbon emissions, then there should be even bigger bubbles on that graf with label “kill yourself”.

Oh, yes please!
It would be disastrous at first, but Europe would recover much stronger than before.
We would have to do a lot to catch up but the seeds are there and they cannot grow because they are in the shadow of the US industry.
The US giants have money and userbase to outperform anything Europe has at the moment and when they cannot outperform some company, they buy it. If Trump ever tries to cut US Tech off, European companies would grow rapidly to fill the void.
Yeah… USSR was a Union. In the same way prison is a form of hotel.
no non-violent movement that has involved more than 3.5% of a population has ever failed
US police: hold my riot gear!
Ah, yes. My favourite programming language (checks notes) HTML…
If your favourite programming language is HTML, we do not grant you the title of Nerd.

I am old enough and geek enough to be bothered by the use of the word “WiFi” instead of the Internet or just network.
It’s only WiFi if you connect the wireless router at the end.
Edit: just noticed mention of the “antenna at the roof” on the page, but I still don’t think it’s WiFi, “WiFi” is a name of the technology that allows wireless access by multiple devices. I think it’s rather radio communication between the router and the access point. They basically use radio waves instead of the cable, it was often used in rural areas in my country, where putting cables would be too expensive.

It seems to have started in America but has spread to Europe and other countries
Nah, Orban and Erdogan did conservative, nationalistic autocracy before it was cool.

Well, the rest is split between conservatives (more than 20) and liberals (around 15), 5 in the center (Hołownia is a sort of conservative who supports liberal government)… so it’s close enough.

The good part is, that none of the two is a far right extremist.
Nawrocki is remotely controlled by the same person who has the remote to the President. Trzaskowski is controlled by the current government. So no matter who wins we should not expect any extreme turn.
The bad part is, that the third and the fourth place were far right extremists, who in previous elections would get, like, 5 percent total, now got 21 percent combined, which gets me worried for the next parliamentary elections.
Somehow they buy the cheapest crap available and sell it still relatively cheap (compared to the stuff that works). But it’s still not worth even half of that. I had no idea Hama was “German” but it was on top of my list of “Never buy that crap” brands.
