Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow One of the greatest albums of all time. If you like Dilla and DOOM that’s the only logical choice.

3·1 year agoSame. The OP article is interesting, but was hoping for more than a few wiki links of past instances. Is there more verifiable evidence for this instance? Don’t doubt the claim, just curious.

Data Is Beautiful@lemmy.ml•Airline Incidents: How Do Boeing and Airbus Compare?
181·2 years agoWould be helpful to compare fleet sizes, how many accidents per total flights. Total accidents doesn’t mean much without a comparison of either those stats.

Technology@lemmy.world•Nas’ 'Illmatic' Was the Beginning of the End of the AlbumEnglish
91·2 years agoAbsolutely agree. I’d argue Blazing Arrow by Blackalicious is one of the greatest albums of all time. And that came out in 2002, eight years after Illmatic. Blazing Arrow is such a seamless and well thought out album from start to finish. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blazing_Arrow

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is there a way to get recommendations for "underrated" songs, or music that is awesome but I might not come across? For instance, I really loved the Peacemaker soundtrack...
71·2 years agoIt takes maybe six months of skipping tracks
Lol, I look forward to good results by the end of the year? Maybe not the best algorithm after all.
I personally don’t have one particular way of discovering new music. It’s a mix of suggestions from different apps or friends. Shazam during movies and TV also helps guide some discoveries. Also just clicking through a rabbit hole of suggestions and marking stuff you like for future digging.
Maybe mention and link to the community so the appropriate people can do more than guess at what you even want?
Thanks, haven’t seen that abbreviation before
What does fta mean?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think would improve your Lemmy experience?
421·2 years agoI still think this is the biggest issue with lemmy right now. There should be a way for communities that are identical across instances that can connect where a post would be cross posted and connected with links to each instance it’s connected with.

Technology@lemmy.world•MPA & ACE Rack Up Over 3,000 Pirate Site Domain SeizuresEnglish
21·2 years agoThe article mentions “Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment”. https://www.alliance4creativity.com/
Looks like a group that takes down piracy websites.
I assume MPA refers to “The Motion Picture Association”. They keep changing their name: “The MPA, originally called the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) and later the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA)”, then abbreviated to MPA.
Just clarifying the abbreviations since it isn’t really explained/articulated in the article.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Doesn't each community being local to each instance split the audience?
1·2 years agoSure, but I feel like there is still fluctuation and more often than not a varying degree of activity and posts that it makes it hard to stick to just one (identical) community for now. I’m sure it’ll settle over time though.

2·2 years agoSame, on many topics. How would I know which community will have the most activity, or none at all. It’s my biggest issue here. Not a deal breaker, but annoying.

These are all really good answers, but yours really nailed it for me. Such a fascinating development and change in infrastructure. Thank you for such a well thought out and informed reply.
