31·9 days agoYou try changing people’s opinions when you can’t even agree on what is and what isn’t reality. I really don’t think you guys have any idea how broken half of this country is. We do. Because we have to deal with these people on a daily basis. Some of them are our family.

What’s the definition of insanity again? Something about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?
Well, I’ve been voting “blue no matter who” for damn near 30 years now, and shit has not changed for the better. Society has changed for the better in some ways, but that is not being represented in our government.
I’m starting to think my vote for Nader was the sanest thing I’ve ever done in my civic life.

7·15 days agoYes I would. It is understandable, but also frustrating as fuck to see those with more means to effect positive change in this country just giving up and walking away, money in hand.
I don’t want to be pissed off. I am just absolutely sick of the privileged few getting whatever they want in life, while the rest of us are left to fight amongst ourselves over the scraps.

1024·15 days agoIt’s so nice to know he made his bag on the backs of American labor and American consumers, and he can now just leave.
Must be nice to be given everything playing make believe, throw a couple bones to the manufactured opposition, then say nah I’m done. I don’t want my kids growing up in the country that literally made me and afforded me the privilege to just leave when shit really starts to matter. Congrats on that.

I like the idea of annoying them to get them out of the house. Like they’ll just grab their briefcase, put on their hat, and walk out the front door.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Lemmy is more left leaning because the rights popularity seen on other social media are driven by bots that are not here.
12·2 years agoIf you’re old enough to remember when seat belt laws started/became more prevalent, you’ll remember the right-leaning folks were all up in arms because “muh freedom to do what I want if it doesn’t hurt anyone else” not realizing (or not caring about) the effect their choices had on their children. While center/left leaning people were just like “I already wear it because it’s the smart thing to do”.
More recent example: smoking bans
