Does it use an LTS kernel like Debian or is it more like Ubuntu/Fedora?

They can build it in kilometers all they want. Plenty of people will still measure it in miles.

Linux@programming.dev•Nvidia is reportedly bringing official Linux support to GeForce Now soon, not just for Steam DeckEnglish
7·7 days agoThat’s an issue the entire industry will need to reckon with soon. I think gaming tech is going to sort of plateau and enter an optimization era. Was probably overdue for a correction anyway, but it’ll be painful for a while. It’s possible the Steam Machine will be delayed who knows. Or it’ll just be a hobbyist item until prices hit a tipping point and equalize.
It doesn’t really matter ultimately, but it takes me like 10 seconds to wash my hands. Peeing almost always takes longer.

It’s mostly just Lemmy.world. Some other instances flirt with it, but I’m convinced Lemmy.world is a state sponsored psyop.

Game’s a little different from the last time I played it I spose. Can’t keep up with the meta.

Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•FOSS Is Always One Maintainer From CollapsingEnglish
4·21 days agoI agree with you in general. Many small projects with limited popularity are one heartbeat away from disappearing forever. However, projects that are absolutely essential to prevent “collapse” as the video suggests will almost certainly find new life. Red Hat, Google, Canonical, Valve, Synology etc. that all rely heavily on open source projects will pump cash to keep them alive if it comes to that. It’s not true across the board universally, but in general collapse is not imminent.

291·22 days agoMaintainers quitting is definitely a loss for everyone. However, we all have the source code. Hard fork and someone new takes up the mantle. Almost guaranteed to happen if the project is important enough.

4·26 days agoI don’t think Lemmy is pro fascism or murder, but large chunks of it are so anti American that it does indeed swing back around to become pro Russia. If you’re significantly anti American, it’s easy to understand why some people might support one of the few countries actually willing to stand up to the US.

Ah thanks. Now I remember why I never used VanillaOS previously. I’ve been keeping my eye on bluefin-LTS though. Looks like a really interesting project. CentOS Stream based immutable distribution.
