As a long time whitewater kayaker and motorcycle rider I had this drilled into my head so much when I was younger.

Whenever my wife and I are at a restaurant and someone that is not our server brings the food to the table they always assume the vegetarian plate is hers and the one with meat on it is mine. They always seem confused when it is the other way around.

I am legally blind in one eye (just see very fuzzy color) and if I close my good eye this picture is indistinguishable from a low res image of Jupiter.

I am a lighting designer for concerts so right off the bat my career would be over. Outside of work I listen to music a lot to help motivate me to do things so it would be much harder for me to accomplish anything.

This is why I hate when people ask me what time it is. I can glance at my watch and know what time it is but not in a format that makes sense to other people. In order to tell someone what time it is I have convert to a “normal” format and that makes it look like I cannot quickly read my own watch.

I know a Sherpa guide that lit up at the summit of Everest while waiting for the rest of his group to arrive. This was many many years ago before Everest became the zoo it is now.

Same here, before I found out it is literally impossible for me to see them I had one of the books and I would stare at it for hours trying to make it work. Of all the annoyances of being half blind, not being able to see magic eyes is the one that bothers me most.

Frickin Milwaukee calling water fountains “bubblers”. They know damn well nobody else calls them that, yet they still act like they didn’t know what your talking about when you ask where the water fountain is.

I have a buddy that uses his to spoof people’s apartment swimming pool access cards.

My 2023 Mazda has a touch screen but you never actually have to touch it. In fact, they put it far enough away that it is difficult to touch while driving and disable the touch when the car is moving. There are knobs and buttons in-between the front seats that control it. Also none of the important stuff is controlled through the infotainment system, it is just settings, satnav, and radio (or Android Auto/carplay). Not having to interact with a touch surface while driving is one of my favorite features of my car, and there are a lot of other things that I love about it too.

I was the first in my my friend group in highschool to have a car and a cell phone. My friends would call my cell collect from a payphone and just say where they wanted me to meet them. Never needed a name or explanation, if I got a collect call with a location I would decline it and be there as soon as I could.

The theory that I heard that made the most sense is that he thinks by renaming it he can circumvent the Biden ban on new oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

We were setting up for a concert one time and I was helping the FOH engineer (sound guy) check all the instrument/mic lines. One of the instruments was a Moog synth. I started randomly playing it (I do not play piano or synth) so he could check it. After a couple of seconds he said something about me playing a song and I told him I had never heard of it. Apparently I had accidentally played the opening of a song he really liked.

My wife’s family drives like this, not just with the pedals but with the wheel too. Instead of turning it to where it needs to be and holding it they turn it to far then over correct back twords center then back to the first spot they turned it to, then overcorrect, and repeat the entire turn. Thankfully I was able to get my wife to stop driving this way when we started dating and now she hates riding with any of her family driving as much as I do.
