Whenever someone brings God or any other omnipotent supernatural being into the realm of reality and try to have a semblance of a logical reasoning, everything just falls apart and stops making sense.
It is a common belief among evangelicals that the universe and everything in it was created 6000 years ago. Naturally you can tell them that it can’t be right because we’ve found dinosaur bones hundreds of millions of years old. Common response to that is God buried those fake bones to test your faith. On the surface it makes sense because of course omnipotent being can create anything it wants. However once you dig slightly deeper the entire premise turns into a complete farce. You say to yourself, why not 1000 years instead of 6000? Why not 100 years? Why not five years or even five days? Five minutes? Yes, it’s entirely possible for omnipotent being to have created the entire universe five minutes ago put fake memory into everyone and we won’t know it. You can basically just make up stuff and that makes just as much sense.
My point is once entertain the existence of God then anything and everything is possible to the point where having an intellectually honest conversation no longer matters. To me this is a mathematical equivalent of dividing by zero. This is why I believe science and religion are diametrically opposing beliefs that cannot be bridged.
I worked retail for many years so… yeah.

Short answer, no. I know several people that are narcissists and they don’t get better over time. In fact I think they’ve gotten lot worse. If you’re in a relationship with a narcissist and perhaps thinking this person may get better over time, I have a bad news for you. No. Most definitely won’t. No amount of therapy will “fix” narcissism because for any behavioral therapy to work the person first has to admit they have a problem and want to get better. Narcissists are simply incapable of doing just that. Only solution is to remove narcissist from your life. Do it as soon as possible. Yes, I’m speaking from first hand experience.

This is really bad. You need to have emergency service vehicles able to move around the city. Blocking road like that could mean life or death for some. Public road isn’t some playground for doing beta testing. Waymo needs to be heavily fined for putting public at risk.

Damn. This sucks. I’ve been buying Crucial ram sticks as long as I can remember. They’ve been the reliable go to brand for me. First it was EVGA and now Crucial. How depressing.
Obviously Bill Gates is a household name and in the tech community everyone knows who is Steve Ballmer. However not many people know who Paul Allen is even though he was one of the founder of Microsoft at the very start. In 1982 Paul Allen was diagnosed with cancer and Bill and Steve were worried that if Paul died the shares of the company would go to someone else along with control of the company. While Paul was literally getting cancer treatment, Bill and Steve were scheming to dilute the shares of the company to wrestle the control of the company away from Paul. Fortunately for Paul he survived the cancer. It really doesn’t put Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer in very good light though. I remember reading about this from Robert X. Cringely’s blog about two decades ago and I heard Paul Allen wrote about his version of this story in his memoir before his death.
Edit: I tried to find the original Robert X. Cringely’s story from back in 2006 but looks like that link is broken but he did referenced it in 2011 when Paul Allen’s book was released.

Memory prices are crazy. I bought 96GB of DDR5 6400Mhz sticks for $320 back in February. Now it’s $750.
Unfortunately no pricing has been announced. I think that will determine if this hardware is worth the money. The design is pretty cool though. The big downside is 8GB VRAM and GPU is AMD’s RDNA3 which is bit old. Otherwise it’s an interesting concept.

Not all kernel level anti-cheat are the same. Riot’s Vanguard and whatever Battlefield 6 uses requires TPM and SecureBoot and they quite invasive. I believe Vanguard just runs in the background even when you’re not running the game which is awful. Arc Raiders devs made some pragmatic concessions to allows the game to run on Proton and Steam Deck which is pretty good.

IGN put out a first preview video of Arc Raiders couple months ago and it was borderline hit piece. The quality of the video was unbelievably bad. They made the game look muddy, dated, and choppy. This wasn’t IGN trying to showcase the game on some realistic typical gaming hardware. In reality the game is well optimized and visually really good on moderate level hardware. I hear the game looks fantastic on consoles. Maybe they’ll do a full review now that the game is finally released but I question the journalistic integrity of IGN.

This guy will get tons of flak and maybe even death treats for criticizing Valve. For whatever reason there is a rabid cult like following for Valve and Gabe Newell. I remember several years ago I said something like “Valve is still a company that’s out to make money at the end of the day” and several of my gaming friends instantly were no longer friends. It’s quite hilarious for me to just think about that even today.

The Nobel Peace Prize 2025 was awarded to Maria Corina Machado “for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”
Last few words are almost like they’re thumbing the nose of one specific person.

Raising the price of hardware twice since May and now raising the price of game pass by 50% is not something a company would do if they’re interested in competing against Sony or Nintendo. Clearly Microsoft has thrown in the towel on XBOX. Only thing left for Microsoft to do is announce cancellation of next gen console altogether and do layoffs. I don’t know when that will happen but it’s inevitable at this point.

50% price hike means Microsoft is basically betting that less than 1/3 of the current subscribers will cancel. Microsoft is also betting that some will not cancel but just downgrade to lower tier instead. If more than 2/3 of the subscriber remain a subscriber then Microsoft will come out ahead.

At one time XBOX fanbase were so desperate to play games like Halo and Gears of War that they were wrapping their dead XBOX 360 in a towel and putting it in an oven to resurrect it. That sounds so insane but it actually happened. Fast forward to now, Microsoft has raised hardware prices twice since May and now raising price of their game pass by 50%. Clearly they’re no longer interested in increasing XBOX market share or even retaining it. They’ve pivoted their strategy to milk their current XBOX fans as much money as they can until the brand is completely dead.

We already have a large cult/religion that started out with an author and a book so I can definitely see another one forming from some guy and a video game.

Seems like Bungie is a raging dumpster fire at the moment. CEO responsible for current state of Bungie just bailed when his stock options became vested. The person leading the studio now is the infamous GDC “beware of overdelivery” guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6HqAhabFBA
People keep saying $32k was stolen by malware. No, that did not happen. Malware did not reach into someone’s bank account and withdrew $32k. Here is a simple fact. Crypto is not money. If your brain says something like “it works just like money, or it’s worth just as much as money so it’s basically money” then you’re most likely to get scammed at sometime in the future by putting your actual real money into crypto. It’s that simple.
I’m pretty sure if anyone created a website that generated CSAM they’d be in jail by now. Just because it’s Elon Musk doing it, authorities are fine with it? At one time law enforcement would make an effort put up a facade of justice system that’s equal to everyone. This is how the masses would not rise up and dethrone the status quo. Anyone remember Martha Stewart going to jail for insider trading?
Isn’t there Apple app store and Google play store policies that says this is not allowed? How come the app is still available on those mobile platforms? Where are EU regulators doing? No fines? Nothing?
We’ve basically reached a point where billionaires are publicly mocking and daring the rest of us to react. Do these accelerationist billionaires really think they’ll come out ahead when the masses burn everything to the ground?
