I believe it’s the verb tenses. Instead of it being a historical fact, it’s an ongoing practice of an ongoing group of people

1·7 months agoGender dysphoria is not the same as being trans. Not all trans people have gender dysphoria and plenty of cis people do. Cis men who do steroids and cis women who get boob jobs typically do so to ease some level of gender dysphoria they feel. The only reason trans people get diagnosed and cis people don’t is the continuing view of transness as itself a disorder.

3·9 months agoI’ve heard that recommendation a lot - “play DS1 first because otherwise you won’t have the patience to play it later”, and TBH all that tells me is to skip 1, play the more recent entries, and then move on to the many, many other games that I keep meaning to play, lol.

1·9 months agoEdgeworth’s games are very different in structure but SO GOOD. I played the first one when it came out and it instantly became my favorite in the series. I still need to get around to playing the sequel though, lol.

5·9 months agoI’ve bounced off a couple souls games before but I’m now like 150 hours deep into elden ring on a friend’s copy, lol, but they only have the base game. I’d like to play the dlc (which is not on sale) eventually so I think it makes sense to get my own copy at some point (I’ve heard transferring saves is pretty easy on pc)
ETA: I normally don’t like hard games but I keep feeling like elden ring is encouraging me to be better rather than trying to defeat me, which is a difference I think a lot of hard games miss

6·9 months agoIMO outer wilds has a strong tone of optimism and hope in the face of existential dread, so I think you’re probably good on that front. And if you’re at all a fan of environmental storytelling and don’t hate physics sims, I think you’ll like it just fine. If you’re super unsure, maybe watch like the first hour (or less if you find your answer early) of someone doing a blind playthrough and see if the manner of storytelling grabs you.
Shade from what? Yall don’t even have the sun, lol

And ya, if it’s true that Ada was the one dealing with the the reports, I’m not really sure what the mod team was even doing (other than making unpopular decisions without community input)
I’ve seen a lot of talk about how this move changes the admins the community will be under, but very little about how this will change the randos that pass through. The mods keep saying this won’t change anything, that the moderation will stay the same, etc, but the reason this community is the way it is is that there are a lot of locals that find it. When the new community shows up on l.w’s local page, it will bring in a far different crowd. Their posts, comments, and up/down votes will change the community, and there’s no amount of moderation that will fix that.
Mods, this is why people are mad you made this change without asking anyone. Many of us do not want an influx of .world users into this space because we know what kind of politics and biases they’ll bring with them and that, even if you moderate the bigots, the normies will still likely overpower the queer voices this community is known for.
Did you read my comment at all?
Even if you disbelieve drag’s identity, they are NOT the reason transphobia exists. TRANSPHOBES are the reason transphobia exists.
Every marginalized group has some faction that is willing the throw another smaller or more marginalized group under the bus. There are gays trying to claim legitimacy by fighting trans rights, and binary trans folks are saying we’d be a lot farther if nbs didn’t exist. This is just pandering to people who already hate us in the hopes that we can distract them from ourselves for a little while. It doesn’t work and it hurts people who should be our allies.
You mention the kitty litter thing, but you know that was fully a lie, right? It was there in case of an active shooter situation, and the people upset about it weren’t gesturing to people like drag, but to furries, most of whom (in reality) are just enjoying playing pretend. They will make up lies and people to get mad about with or without those people, so how could drag possibly be making this worse?
To be clear, the 3 seasons of the animated series “avatar: the last airbender”.
There are unrelated blue people movies, live action remakes, and a sequel series (“legend of korra”), but when people recommend avatar (as they should - it’s fantastic) they mean the original cartoon version.
Hostility to a person is not hostility to a message. There were other people saying the same thing and getting upvoted for it :)
And yet, based on context clues (upvotes on other replies), we can guess that the downvotes on that comment are based on its tone and not based on its message, which other comments delivered quite successfully. This is the exact definition of cherrypicking.
I have no knowledge on the topic so I can’t answer the first couple questions.
However, I will say its a useful correction to say there are ongoing efforts to maintain historical practices if it makes the correctee happy to hear that (as is the case in the meme). It’s also useful to remember that indigenous peoples still exist and aren’t just historical (something a lot of US folks aren’t taught in school)
