I think I remember something about the clouds caused by massive container ships going away because they outlawed to really cheap crude oil their engines used. But the clouds actually had a cooling effect on the plant because the clouds reflected more light than the ocean. So some people are experimenting with spraying salt water into the air from these ships so the salt will create nucleation points for the clouds.
All this to say is coulds good, fossil fuels bad.

What does value mean and how do we get value? It seems more like she’s saying that she doesn’t value some people, and that we should have the same values as her.
But she doesn’t get to determine value, the whole community collectively assigns value. We’ve all hade times in our life where we were less and more productive to give up on someone during a low point isn’t just laughably evil but also a bad investment.
It costs basically nothing to be nice to someone and that could turn around their depression (there’s tons of anecdotal examples of this).
Are there any people or things that are valuable to your mother solely because they bring joy? Are friendships purely transactional, are you supposed to win friendships and extract more joy than the other party? Dunno just feels like she hasn’t thought very deeply about this.
I don’t know. To me agency and free will feel pretty separate. Events are necessitated by the past and the laws of the universe. But us choosing to do something is a part of that, and so are our values. I’m not sure if I would act any different if I believed in Compatibilism or free will, but I don’t think I would. How would life be any different?
Unless you’re getting determinism mixed up with pre-destination

Maybe not technical, but teaching is weird.
If people aren’t having fun/engaged they’re not learning much. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. It’s so frustrating to come across someone who writes the standards you’re supposed to follow and they are the most boring and fake teacher you’ve experienced.

That fentanyl is primarily coming from the Middle East.

Do you have a good source for that claim?

I think I saw or heard something by Hamilton Morris about China being where most of the fentanyl is made. China has some amazing drug manufacturing facilities and they usually make stuff that people need. But the chemists there are really smart and can make lots of different chemicals.
If the drugs aren’t coming from China where do you think they’re coming from? My source is admittedly weak, that’s why I was asking to be corrected.
Also how do you prevent drugs from entering a country? Wouldn’t reducing the demands for drugs be a more permanent solution?

So, can some folks here correct my ignorance. I was under the impression that most of the fentanyl entering the US is being manufactured in China. It doesn’t sound crazy to me that this is some sort of conspiracy to weaken the American public.
I’m not sure why we can’t just decriminalize drugs so folks and do heroin in peace. Or maybe fix some of the problems that are causing people to do drugs.

I literally cannot read it another way

We’ve got outdoor cats in coyote country. Haven’t had a problem, honestly I’m more afraid of a great horned owl moving in. We’ve got a dog that barks a lot. Also sometimes our neighbor will shoot a coyote and leave it out there to scare the others off. But the yipping and howling is why I wear earplugs when I go camping, or put a fan of during summer months.

Dunno, I just don’t believe my NixOS config files are particularly valuable. What is the benefit of sharing garbage code from a novice? I’d rather share things worth sharing, that could be useful to someone else.

I do the same thing. Anything I put on there isn’t something that I would share with the Internet anyway. If it was a serious project, sure. It’s just nice to have a personal git you can access over a VPN sometimes.
Ignorance of what? It seems that if you’re using a word the same way your sub culture uses a word, it’s correct. Or rather that words can only be used correctly within a context.
So I can’t actually find anything from a quick search that tells me what “bread poisoning” is. Searches show results for both moldy bread as well as ergotism. Just about every source on the Internet tells me that eating a bunch of moldy bread should just give you a bad case of shits or vomits. But if someone is immunocompromised or has gut issues it could be worse.
But if this was ergot poisoning that’s different and doesn’t have much to do with ordinary bread mold.

There’s natural incidence of prion disease in humans as well. I’m definitely not an expert and just remembering a video I watched a week or two ago. That the prions from different sources act differently.
Video I watched: Mad cow disease Also watched this one

I thought it wasn’t just any prions, but specific prions that replicate out of control after some time, depending on genetics. So cows were fed unclean bone meal from sheep and pigs and cows all mixed together, and they think some scrapie infected sheep spine/brain got in there and it spread to cows. Then it spread from there because we didn’t think cows could get it and even if they could we were pretty certain humans couldn’t get it. But we were wrong.

It’s crazy how you hurt less if you exercise all the time

It’s really the only answer, an no I don’t speak Cantonese. But I could make up fake translations for everything they say.
I feel my social battery recover when I have positive experiences with friends and even with strangers. But I used to think I was introverted because working up to do anything social was a huge drain. Turns out the problem isn’t people, it’s my anxiety…
Are there any introverts that don’t have much anxiety? What’s the opposite like?
