Technology@lemmy.world•Apple Is Taking Extra Care With ‘Ambitious’ iOS 18 UpdateEnglish
38·2 years agoI’d be completely cool if the they slowed down a bit and do two year release cycles.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•SteamOS will be coming to other handhelds before you can install it on your PC 'because right now, it's very, very tuned for Steam Deck'
201·2 years agoSuch good news. I hope someone can answer this either theoretically or practically as I’m not as knowledgeable in this.
One of the things I love about the steam deck is the ability to just turn it off and back on a few days later and the game is exactly where I left off. If steamOS is on a PC or another handheld deck. Would it still be possible to still have this feature? I guess my question is whether this is a software or hardware feature.

Games@lemmy.world•Here are all the Golden Joystick Awards 2023 winnersEnglish
10·2 years agoIt does goes to show hardware isn’t everything. In fact it’s a pretty small factor for most if the games are fun.

Games@lemmy.world•Rockstar Games regarding Grand Theft Auto VIEnglish
1·2 years agoI’ll def play it but not hyped for it. Hopefully they have a good amount of single player story. Rockstar has a way of writing story and character that’s so special. Hope that hasn’t changed
Nothing beats that feeling of finishing that final exam and walking out of the school. To only get slapped with a fat D a couple weeks later

9·2 years agoThese would be great once arm chips become more of a thing on PC. Love the form factor.
I wish Apple would bring the 11” MacBook Air back again. I still occasionally look to pick an old one up for fun but never pulled the trigger.

4·2 years agoStill doesn’t feel like Nintendo to make a direct successor to a console. But it wouldn’t be Nintendo if they don’t add some cool idea to it instead of a straight forward spec bump.
I was gonna say Queensland. But Tassie actually does get the most Alabama type jokes.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are there any people who hates music?
4·2 years agoI definitely met people who don’t care about music. And would prefer silence than music on the radio. I don’t believe they hate music in general.
I’m at an age where I’m just not as passionate about music as I was. Not saying only young people enjoy music. I’m just currently not inspired by it and hope to be so again soon.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the most underrated vegetable in your opinion
3·2 years agoThanks for reminding me there’s half in my fridge I forgot about. I don’t think it’s too late!
Actually on that, a good veg needs to last long in the fridge. Cauliflower hits that brief.

Technology@lemmy.world•Bay Area tech CEO worth $35 billion says ‘suffering’ wasn't worth itEnglish
1·2 years agoExactly. I’m sure there were regrets and sadness about the time he’s lost to family and friends and being young. But it effectively paid off. If he shared his wealth those people and left tomorrow to make up for lost time it will be a very very net positive life.
But he’s in his current role. Reminding us this billionaire use to be human but we don’t care. Because it’s such an unfathomable amount of wealth for most people he* might as well be fictional.
That’s a good point. I am always vacuuming food in at a constant rate when the food comes.
Mine is an extension of my body. I can’t not have it with me going out. But I get thirsty a lot. Took me a while to fine one that works for me size and function wise.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do they use large video cameras on TV?
59·2 years agoIt’s mainly the lens size. It has a wide zoom range with a servo rocker (zoom buttons) and can par focal* (focus at one zoom range and stay the same focus when zoomed out)
Then it’s a massive battery on the back and an audio kit strapped on the side. Then sometimes streaming device to live broadcast. Then you got a shoulder pad on the bottom and a big viewfinder for daylight shooting. Strip all that away the body isn’t as big and heavy as you think. So largely all operational to be used running around without needing to stop and change gear.
They always pick the moment you got a mouthful of food so you can’t talk shit
And I think a lot of people don’t realise they’re interesting. We’re just not interesting to everyone we meet and that’s ok.

Apple@lemmy.world•Apple’s future AirPods roadmap just leaked, and big changes are coming
1·2 years agoWhich makes me worry that they would rather scrap the 2 at that price range and make 3 the base cheaper (but more expensive) price.
3 definitely feels like a bit of an after thought product. I’m just glad they’re not touching the pros for a while. Literally just bought the usbc one on a sale this week
