    1. CachyOS
    2. More than a year
    3. I had to setup snapshots and timeshift
    4. A bug between kdrive app and key wallet from KDE (I can still not auto log in the app on Wayland at start.)

I decided to set the snapshots in order to recover in case of bad update. Then I decided to update the system at least once a week brainlessly, just to see how much time it takes to break. so far, I’ve never used the snapshots.

  • Kmail suite for mails, cloud… (Switzerland ) they have a free plan (15GO for the cloud, and the cheapest paid plan is 2e/month for 1TO (20e/year ).

Threema for discussions (Switzerland) . the application is 5e, definitv not cheap for an app, but it is a one time paiement.
Swisscows (Switzerland), mullvad Leta (Sweden) as search engine. => they do not use their own index system but brave or google (you can choose for mullvad)

All those options are Europeans and have strong privacy policies.

  • For gaming and having it work out of the box ?

    • Based on Debian : pikaOS
    • Based on fedora : Nobara
    • Based on Atomic fedora : Bazzite
    • Based on Arch : CachyOS
    • Based onUbuntu : PopOS (not so sure about its current state, their cosmic desktop isn’t released yet)

Beginner friendly : Mint, most of gaming distro (cachy might be a bit more advanced )

I do not know much about the current state of snaps, so I won’t recommend Ubuntu and derivatives (kubuntu, Xubuntu…). I guess it is easier to use .deb now, but I can’t call beginner friendly a distro that require terminal or tweaks to change packages you can install on it.

  • Murena ? as the murena foundation that develop /e/OS ? If yes, their OS is based on LineageOS microG edition with a great ad/tracker blocker and an app store that is kind of a fusion between the aurora store and fdroid (without the ability to add repositories unfortunately, in the version I used at least).

So you can install whatever apps you want with it(Except maybe android auto, I guess). I had my banking app and it worked well (until it detected I was root).

I used it with my oneplus 7, It had some big trouble these last months as their servers were outdated and they needed to update their whole infrastructure. Now, everything seems to be back to normal.

I can not say for their phones (murena 1 and 2), but their OS is solid to me.

  • 7 months distro hopping sober here ! All thanks to CachyOS.

The installation is seamless thanks to calamares, there are some graphic tools that can help for beginners on arch. Their kernel might be one of the most optimised one to have a smooth experience while gaming. I do not play ressources hungry games, so I can not really tell.

After setting snapshots, I decided to experience it totally blind folded, just to see how long I can last on it. I update the system around 2 times a week, never read any changelog, just like any of the other distro I used… And for now, I’ve never had any trouble.

My system seems to be way smoother and more responsive than with fedora or tumbleweed.

I use my computer mostly for steam, heroic, librewolf and LibreOffice.

  • Why not ? There is so much mods that you can play new adventures, with the feeling of being at home.

The base game is full of flaws, but the community makes it really enjoyable.

The balance of skills, the graphics, even the story can be changed. That’s why I like to play it again and again. I can play a Skyrim that people built. And with the perks mod, I can build so much differents characters, I really love that.

And with skyblivion coming this year, I’m not even close to stop playing it.
