Custom roms will have more issues with this. Manufacturers like Samsung have deals with Google and will have access to the sources more often. Custom roms won’t have this access. I personally went back to the stock Pixel rom, and rooted it to still have acces to all of my modifications through Magisk modules and such while being able to stay up to date.

So it’s hard on some phones. Lineage OS support also isn’t any indication of how hard it is to unlock. The more popular devices are all easy to unlock.

Which would help how? If they are really going to make it much more difficult for custom roms it doesn’t matter what phone you choose.

Security is definitely a concern, so replacing it is recommended. I’m not sure about other browsers compatible with Chrome extensions though.

Ram usage is really nothing to worry about depending on the amount you have. Windows will free ram where needed as long as there is enough. If ram is not being used by applications it will be used for other things (it will be cached I believe?). If almost no ram is being used it means some things might take longer to load.

Windows on my Surface Go 2 used about 3-4GB of ram when idle, while on my work laptop with 64GB ram it uses about 10-12GB. But if necessary applications can use some of that ram that’s normally being used in idle.

I do agree about Linux distros being faster, that’s my experience as well.

It’s relevant because it’s there. If you don’t play those parts it doesn’t mean it’s there. They put the time in other things more important to the game than transitions. Also, the engine is completely different.

Debian does use systemd, but what’s so bad about it? I’m just curious, I’m using Arch with KDE, and that also uses systemd. Never had any issues with it. Debian doesn’t use snap by default though.

It’s a great distro to learn a lot about Linux. I challenged myself to install it on my Surface Go 2, and make it usable as a tablet, as well as make it boot with secure boot and more. Now it’s happily running Arch with KDE, using the linux-surface kernel signed with my own secure boot key and a pacman hook that signs that kernel after every update. I learned all of this acompanied by a lot of fuckups and reinstalls, until I was able to fix things after breaking them instead of starting from scratch.

I hope they’ll ever fix the backspace issue for the on screen keyboard.

I used Edge since the beginning, until they decided to fill it with bloat. It’s getting worse than Chrome. Now I’m using Firefox that is still a browser instead of an application trying to replace all applications.

Same here, the only downside is that I’m having issues with some thumbnails that don’t show. For example for the Cox 'n Crendor Show I had to find a soundcloud rss link for Antennapod to show the image. It didn’t work when I subscribed to that podcast from within the app.
