It’s so annoying that I need to use a VPN to see this in the UK.

20·2 days agoYeah.
There’s lots of instances throughout history that prove that humans with power suck.
I like to think that it’s because nice people aren’t the type to accumulate power rather than power corrupts nice people who do get power.

World News@lemmy.world•Trump names Louisiana governor as Greenland special envoy, prompting Danish alarmEnglish
10·4 days agoAlso, does the governor of a whole ass state not have, like, work to do? How do you all feel about this, Louisiana?
I always find this odd in the UK. Our Prime Minister must also be a Member of Parliament which means that they “look after” the political interests of a constituency. Are they not too busy leading the country to do that second job?
Same with all the other MPs in government and the Speaker of the House. Aren’t they all too busy to have a second job?

Games@lemmy.world•Sometimes devs intentionally punish players for struggling with the gameEnglish
31·5 days agoWell, it can just increase the amount of ammo you have or it could put an ammo stash just around the corner.

17·5 days agoI stopped playing Resident Evil 7 because I’d decided that the setting that I was on was too difficult and wanted to knock it down a level. It wouldn’t let me do that without restarting the game so I stopped playing.
I don’t understand why they made that decision at all.

15·8 days agoI sometimes suspect that I am actually an AI. I’ve always struggled with captchas and I comment my code exactly as you’ve just described.
Just because I can tell that something isn’t funny doesn’t mean that I can write something funny myself.
I think that they’re making a poor attempt to point out that the proportional part is based on money not people.

Games@lemmy.world•It turns out Saudi Arabia will own 93.4 percent of EA if the buyout goes through, which is effectively all of itEnglish
5·22 days agoYeah but it isn’t really redundant (even if it could have been worded better). Someone might believe that the other shareholders have some say in how the company operates when they won’t.
So, as far as control over the company is concerned, the Saudis have 100% control even though they don’t have 100% of the shares.

World News@lemmy.world•New party founded by Corbyn adopts Your Party as nameEnglish
1·23 days agoI can’t see how that’s true as she didn’t even get to a point where our own MPs agreed on what Brexit should be and didn’t have a big enough majority to push anything through. Then she proper fucked up by announcing a general election the result of which was that she had even less power.
In my view she simply wasn’t effective enough to have fucked us forever.

6·24 days agoTheresa May wasn’t a party leader when we chose to leave the EU.
David Cameron was the leader of the Conservatives at the time of the referendum, the one who promised the referendum to get votes for his party, the one who greatly underestimated the fight that was needed to be able to stay in the EU and the one who ran away from the steaming pile of shit that he’d created.

54·1 month agoWe used to call the code that determined NPC behaviour AI.
It wasn’t AI as we know it now but it was intended to give vaguely realistic behaviour (such as taking a sensible route from A to B).

333·1 month agoWould you not consider an author who sold millions of books worldwide to be qualification enough for world news?
As a non American I wouldn’t mind articles about American authors in world news. It would have to be those with a high international profile though which gives the problem about where the line is.

It’s not your fault. I can’t see the one picture post that I made myself because it’s on imgur.
