  • I actually just ended a short relationship with a woman recently. She had a kid who was closer to my age than she was, and it was honestly fine until I went over one eve while her child was still there (I did not realise they were going to be there). It was very strange. I had stepdads growing up, and meeting that kid just totally made me feel like I was one of the stepdads meeting me, lol.

I’m not emotionally mature enough to have kids, nor to provide much stability to a woman who has already been married and had a kid, so no - I broke things off.

I would absolutely date a single parent. When I’m older, more mature, and have something to bring to the table.

  • I’m working! But I’m working from home, which is nice, and there’s only a few other people in. Thankfully the entire “management” (it’s three people) are off, so I can focus on my job.

Or, I would be able to, if the marketer who is in would stop messaging me about random little tasks that they can’t be arsed to do.

  • let’s say CHARGED

The commenter called immigrants “parasites”. Let’s not say “charged” mate, let’s say “bigoted”, “racist”, “xenophobic”… “Charged” is a very very very generous thing to call it.

This whole narrative of immigrants “flooding” countries looking for benefits is mad. I hear it all over the world. It’s just not the case. People work hard, whether they’re “low-skilled” (whatever that means) or not, and are not likely to uproot their lives and potentially families to try and head to countries just to try and sponge and scrounge off the system there.

The implication of what you’re saying is, to me, that people are coming into Germany and intentionally trying not to work, instead trying to get money for nothing and sponge off the system. Is that what you’re suggesting?

Yeah there’s loads of funny little quirks to the language. I actually quite like that about it, I think it’s sort of endearing and human, even when I’m frustrated with it.

I don’t know if it’s slow necessarily, but I do know that a lot of things I build (I have to build things designed by other people, I’ve tried to push back but ultimately it’s my boss designing a lot of it) is overengineered and relies on frankly too many moving parts, which could contribute to annoying UX I guess but with all the caching we have in place I’m not sure it’s slow… I’m not a computer science guy though, I might be just too dumb to understand how slow it is

  • Sorry, I work with a marketing department so it’s just normalised to me to call it tracking despite the fact that yes, I agree with you that it’s surveillance and targeted ads are gross. What distinction are you making between tracking server-side, and spying? For me, I guess I’m talking about things like Google analytics or Google ads or hotjar or MS Carity when I say “tracking” in this context (JavaScript).
