Nice! VR was one of the increasingly few things I kept Windows around for, but when am update screwed my drivers I gave it try on Linux again. Initially it didn’t look promising but a couple of tweaks and going with SteamVR Beta - as even with the Index it didn’t like regular SteamVR - I had things working just as good as in Windows for any of the games I’ve tried.

I’ll have to try things out with wireless and the Quest 2 that’s been sitting on my shelf, and maybe see what the compatibility is looking like for the newer devices (or wait and see if the hinted “Frame” is the next Gen)

Well, they used to be. Digital locks and built-to-fail (instead of just cheap) components plus decreased component manufacturing is making that less of a thing.

Which is fine for their store. But one of the things that used to make Android a more free ecosystem was that you could load apps from 3rd-party sites or stores, including stuff like F-Droid. Some of these apps do things that Google in particular won’t like - i.e. circumventing ads/analytics - so having them control who gets signing keys is not good

I saw somebody who did a similar project except the games were actually stored locally, and then the “carts” were 3D printed gameart “boxes” with RFID chips that it would read and use to determine what to load.

My TODO lost includes something similar but with 3D barcodes on the boxes which can be read by a small camera

Yeah I agree. I’ve used PMOS as well as Lineage and Graphene. The latter was the best experience and PMOS was the one that needed the most work, at least to reach any sort of side adoption.

I’ve always found it weird that a standard license here lets you drive anything from a teeny tiny SmartCar to an F350 pulling a massive palace-in-wheels, or a near bus-sized motorhome (provided it doesn’t have air brakes and is under 4600kg).
