“It is very hard to time a bubble,” Prof Admati told me. “And you can’t say with certainty you were in one until after the bubble has burst.”
No, we can definitely say with certainty right at this very moment that we’re in a bubble.

Don’t promise me a good time!

Read elsewhere that openai are trying to buy themselves ahead enough to outlast the bubble popping.
Seems that everything else is sacrificed from that end.
Will be hilarious if they are one of the first to go!

It reminds me of Iran-Iraq levels of duplicity when the US were selling weapons to one and intelligence to the other.

They released the 1.0.0 alpha 28 days ago.

And what happened was hilarious.
Chinese users were asking US ones if it was true about potentially going bankrupt from a medical emergency as they thought it was Chinese govt propaganda.
Then were asking about maternity leave, housing, workers rights and being similar aghast that the truth wasn’t propaganda!

When did you last try it?

Spoon found in kitchen. More from Tom at 7
SM is designed to react to clicks and content that riles people up and consequently creates more clicks. Consciously disengaging from the shit gibbons will make every ones life better but it goes against the base ‘more clicks = more ad revenue’

At the mo, it would be something like macOS 15.5.1, iOS 18.2.2, etc
It will just move to year. major point update. minor point update so for example: 26.5.2

OK, but can we solve everyone elses before we even think about yours and anyone related to you?

Do you understand how email works? You dont have 1 centralised email server. You pick one and thats your email address name@emailserver. It then talks to other email servers unless its blocked emails from that server.
In principal, Mastodon and Lemmy are exactly the same.

Even if he did realise, he wouldn’t care as long as the grift keeps going & he can get back to golfing fairly soon

Last year Dario Amodei, the co-founder of leading AI firm Anthropic, put the current cost of training advanced models at between $100m and $1bn.
So his estimate is so vague as to be fucking useless.
How people haven’t seen through this emperors new clothes nonsense & grasped that these are the bullshitting self appointed druids of the neo religion.
That bubble they keep mentioning is where they’re all getting high off their own farts

it is very concerning that the tech companies could deny a business access to their platforms without proving their case in front of a neutral 3rd party, without offering their target a chance to defend themselves
This is a ludicrous position. He/infowars broke their ToC so they acted accordingly. If anything, they were incredibly lenient in not banning all the accounts prior to when they did.
You’ve also alluded that there’s some kind of conspiracy against Jones by those companies…
by simultaneously banning it from all their problems (I guess you meant ‘platforms’) at once.
By using Hanlons Razor, I would posit that they acted at the last moment before it would blow back on them. The controversy surrounding the guy/company would have generated traffic/clicks/revenue and they wouldn’t cut that off unless there were something that would negatively impact their future revenue.
No company acts out of others interests unless it has some effect on their own, thinking otherwise is just naive.
I’ve had some first hand experience of the Guardians IT systems and they can barely find their arse with both hands
A clear demonstration that the centralisation and over-reliance of the internet into a few corporate hands is a bad idea.
