67·2 years agofortunately this only affects mercury based lamps which no one in their right mind wants to deal with when they blow anyway. laser, led and xenon/halide projectors are unaffected and have been on the market for ten years.

Technology@lemmy.world•The White House wants to 'cryptographically verify' videos of Joe Biden so viewers don't mistake them for AI deepfakesEnglish
2·2 years agoIf a cryptographic claim/validation is provided then anyone refuting the claims can be seen to be a bad faith actor. Voters are one dimension of that problem but mainstream media being able to validate election videos is super important both domestically, but also internationally as the global community needs to see efforts being undertaken to preserve free and fair elections. This is especially true given the consequences if america’s enemies are seen to have been able to steer the election.

Effort required from you: 1 hour
- Sign up two or three Lemmy accounts. 5 minutes
- Go to a niche reddit community and grab half a dozen good submissions in the last year or so. Post them to your Lemmy with different accounts. 10 minutes
- Now for the hard part. Go and create some good quality original submissions. Work hard on 2-3 good pieces of content that don’t exist on reddit. 35 minutes.
- Post links to those submissions on reddit. 5 minutes
- Spend a few seconds voting up and engaging with any commenters in your new community. 5 minutes
Even simple upvotes from your few accounts can catalyse engagement and make the community start to come together.
I operate a rooftop solar power station. While I have scripted all the individual components like battery management, Inverters and the various sinks (for where the power goes when it’s not needed immediately) using Grafana to get alerts, I use automation to activate the various scenes and settings to maximise the useful power I get from the system.

UK Politics@feddit.uk•Sunak says he wants to reduce workers’ taxes this year and may cut benefits
11·2 years agothis is 100% a scheme to fuck the labour party who are likely to win the next election. It will force them to either immediately raise taxes on working people to revert the tax, take on more debt to keep the tax but restore the benefits, or abandon the poor and keep the tax cut as is.
it’s using poor, disabled, single parents and other vulnerable members of society as political cannon fodder and it’s fucking disgusting, but sadly par for the course with this government.
