3·7 days agoBut with Qobuz remember to download your music immediately, or it might disappear! Bandcamp does not suffer from this limitation.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do you personally hate Christmas?English
3·7 days agoJesus wasn’t born on December 25th. There is no birth narrative in the earliest gospel, Mark, it is an invention of later writers. I think the Romans put his “birthday” on the calendar close to Saturnalia to appease the Saturnalians or whatever.
I like to call it the Solstice (because that’s more or less what it is), with Solstice trees, Solstice cookies, etc.
Christmas, IMHO, is really for kids, not for adults. After the kids grow up, consider celebrating the Solstice by giving to their favorite charity (or better yet, your favorite open source software developer). This SNL video pretty much sums up for me Christmas as it is now for most people: an empty gesture.

7·22 days agoWhen I was posting this article, I remembered the time when I commented somewhere here on ML that “Golfing at Trump’s new resort in Gaza is going to be a b1tch with all those corpses they’ll have to play over,” and “rhymes with stitch” got automatically removed. I understand that moderators can’t look over every post and comment, but it makes one think, doesn’t it? After p00f and f@gg0t, I saw that something else had been removed that I missed, and it was this: sn1gger, which means:
- A snicker.
- A partly suppressed or broken laugh.
- A sly or snide laugh.
EDIT: grammar.

23·24 days agoI see Qobuz on there. IMHO, Bandcamp should be your first stop when buying music. If it’s not on bandcamp, Qobuz seems to have just about everything else, more or less, that someone might want. I’ve complained about them in the past for making me download my purchases one track at a time, which can be pretty annoying if you’re buying a super-duper-deluxe version of an album, but, I am pleased to say, they no longer do this; you can download the complete albums you’ve purchased in a zip file. But only once. Stuff can disappear for annoying rights reasons, and I think they even say, once you buy your music download it immediately, because it may not be there on a subsequent visit.
