Peanut butter is disgusting. It looks disgusting, it smells disgusting, the texture of it is disgusting, the taste makes me gag. If it made a noise I’m sure that would be disgusting too.

I’ve started and deleted several comments in defense of peanut butter. Yes, it looks like poop if in the wrong spot, but that’s literally the only criticism in my mind that is legitimate! A true wonder food.

Now, fuck Skippies. I usually buy Smuckers Chunky Natural, which is only peanuts and salt, and is a good combo of low price, few ingredients, and being in a glass jar.

Edit: Talk to text corrections. Oy vey.

I think everyone has that one food that they just absolutely hate. I had a friend who hated bananas in the same way. My wife hates bacon!

I started to say I can’t think of a food I hate… but then I remembered that I’m a vegetarian. It’s just, well, if it doesn’t contain critters then I’m not picky at all. AND I think I could live off of peanut butter and crackers as long as the scurvy held out, maybe a month or 3.

No, I take it back, durian is gross. But it’s actually illegal to take the fruit on public transport in some parts of the world, so it’s not just me. I’m sure I’ll think of more.

Out of curiosity, do you also stand by that for natural peanut butter?

      • I grew up with Jif and never understood why people say it tastes like lard
      • Now I’ve been eating natural peanut butter for decades. It has a better texture and tastes like actual peanuts
      • I recently tried Jif …… gross, tastes like lard, texture like lard

Reminds me of an experiment one of my mom’s friends had me try in junior high - take a bite of Honey Bear bottle honey then try wild honey from one of his friend’s bee farms. I said they tasted the same. Then he had me try it in reverse order. I tried to scrape it out of my mouth. Absolutely disgusting.

I never understood why people like Nutella, especially since I should be one of them

        • as someone who loves hazelnuts, it does not taste like hazelnut
        • as someone who loves chocolate, any chocolate flavor is below even Hersheys
        • tastes like lard, or maybe play dough

Maybe it’s similar to peanut butter, where including the actual ingredients could make a huge difference. If anyone knows of a “natural” equivalent with actual hazelnut butter and actual chocolate, I’d love to try it
